Many thanks to Khor Kok Keong for this colorful FDC posted from Malaysia!
On 30 August 2012, Pos Malaysia released a series of stamps, entitled “Malaysian Unity - Series II” to commemorate the 55th Merdeka celebration (Malaysia's Independence Day).
The stamps, were created to focus on the 1Malaysia concept, which comprises interracial unity and national harmony.
Titled “Perpaduan - Bahasa” (Unity through Language), “Perpaduan - Sukan” (Unity through Sports), “Perpaduan - Tarian” (Unity through Dance), and “Perpaduan - Gotong Royong” (Unity through Cooperation to Attain a Shared Goal), they serve to encourage all Malaysians to uphold national unity and integrate with each other.
When aligned side by side, the stamps form a Jalur Gemilang in the background.
Out of curiosity, I searched for the Malay word "Jalur Gemilang" and found this interesting clip featuring a group of students in Penang with their longest batik Jalur Gemilang (meaning the Malaysian flag), which has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records.
