Prince William and Kate Middleton Cover From Malaysia!

William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of cambridge were in Singapore two weeks ago (Sept 11-13). The trip was part of a nine day tour through Commonwealth countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee (60 years of her reign).

From Singapore, the Duke and Duchess of cambridge moved to Malaysia where they visited the capital Kuala Lumpur and Borneo's Sabah state. The pair then traveled to the Solomon Islands, a former British protectorate northeast of Australia, before a final stop on the tiny nation of Tuvalu.

To mark this special occasion, Post Malaysia released two lovely stamps on the day of their Malaysia arrival (Sept 13, 2012).
One features a "stamp on stamp" design, with an older stamp released on June 2, 1953 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's coronation in the centre and the other features a photograph of Prince William and Kate Middleton to commemorate their visit. Both stamps are bordered with silver ink and cost RM1.50 each, while a miniature sheet costs RM5.

Many thanks to fellow blogger and philatelist, Khor Kok Keong for this cover with one of the stamps affixed on the top right corner. He also enclosed a beautiful miniature sheet from this series (shown above).
Unlike Post Malaysia, Singpost did not issue any special stamps for this occasion. However, the Singapore government did put up a very good 'Wayang' show for the couple. But I will refrain from discussing politics on this blog. FYI, 'Wayang' means an act, most of the time not real ;)
