My First Cover From Honduras!!

Another pleasant surprise in my mailbox today, this time from Honduras! Many thanks to Sonia!!
I had a hard time finding information regarding the stamps from Honduras, as not much info are available on its official website. My guessing is that the stamp on the right was issued to mark the return of peace and democracy following Honduras' June 2009 coup. Very obvious, the left stamp was issued in 2008 to commemorate the Beijing Olympic Games.
In addition, Sonia enclosed a bank note, a beautiful postcard showing the Plaza la Merced in Comayagua and also a lovely stamp sheet which I guess marks the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Honduras and South Korea in 2012.
Once again thank you so much Sonia! Look out for my cover to Honduras soon.

My First Cover from Monaco!!

Another pleasant surprise from Francois Leboucher! This time posted from Monaco! Merci!
The beautiful stamp belongs to a miniature sheet, entitled "Former Fiefs of the Grimaldis of Monaco in Provence" devoted to the fiefs of the Grimaldi family in the Kingdom of France.
Issued on 4th April 2011, this block is the latest in the series that began in 2010. The signing of the treaty of Péronne in 1641 by King Louis XIII and Prince Honoré II ended Spanish protectorate in exchange for Monaco. In return, as compensation for the loss of his Spanish territories, Louis XIII granted four fiefs to Honoré II that included Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Les Baux, made into a French marquisate and offered to Hercule, son of Honoré II.

Also worthy of mention are the lovely postmarks of Monaco Phil 2011, a major international philatelic event held in Monaco from 2nd - 4th Dec 2011.

Paranomic view of Monaco city (Above), would love to visit it one day!

Here's another lovely cover from Bryon Peterson. Thank you very much!
The beautiful stamps on this awesome cover were issued on 7th June 2012, entitled "Bicycling". The four colorful se-tenant stamps features a different kind of bike and rider: a young child just learning to ride with training wheels, a commuter pedaling to work, a road racer intent on the finish line, and an airborne BMX rider.

These Bicycling stamps are being issued as 'Forever' stamps. Forever stamps are always equal in value to the current First-Class one-ounce rate (currently @45 cents).

Bearing postmarks of Issaquah and Seattle, Washington (dated 15th Aug 2012), this cover took 8 days to reach me.

3 Lovely covers from France!

Many thanks to Francois Leboucher for these lovely covers posted from France! Merci!!

Every year, during the first half of November, the Chambre syndicale française des Négociants et Experts en Philatélie (CNEP) organizes the largest annual philatelic event in France, the Salon Philatélique d'Automne.

The 65th Salon d'Automne held on 3rd - 6th Nov 2011 brought together more than 80 stands of philatelic dealers and specialist press, 11 European postal administrations (Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Nations and Vatican), plus the United Kingdom as the guest of honour, as well as the Overseas departments and territories of France (Mayotte, New Caledonia, Polynesia, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, TAAF, and Wallis and Futuna).

Phil@poste released two special vignettes d'affranchissement for the Salon d'Automne 2011. Both issues are dedicated to the UK, as the guest of honour in 2011, 40 years after it was the first guest of honour at the Salon in 1971.

The first design (affixed above) shows some of the most important monuments of London and Paris. On the left, London is represented by the Big Ben, St Pancras Station and Tower Bridge. On the right, Paris with the Pont Neuf, the Tour Eiffel and the Gare du Nord.
The second design, also dedicated to the UK, shows the UK 1840 Penny Black - the first stamp issued in the world and the first French stamp - the 1849 Cérès, respectively.
The next cover shows 2 lovely stamps from a Miniature sheet entitled "Endangered Birds of France". Issued on 14 May 2012, this MS commemorates the centenary of the League for the Protection of Birds (LPO).

Last but not least, the third cover was posted from 5th Salon du Timbre or Planète Timbres. The ATM stamp is one of 3 designs dedicated to the event.

This ATM stamp depicts some of the major French rulers between the thirteenth and twentieth centuries - Kings Saint-Louis (or Louis IX de France), François 1er, Henri IV, Louis XIV, the emperor Napoléon 1er, and general Charles De Gaulle.

The other 2 designs were dedicated to the Franco-American friendship and 85th congress of the FFAP respectively.
