My new country #87!

In honor of Queen Margrethe II’s 70th birthday in April, the Danish postal service has released a series of new stamps with the Queen’s portrait on them.

The new defintive stamps come in four different denominations covering the most comon postage charges. This is the first Danish series of definitive stamps to be issued on self-adhesive paper, which in the future will be used for all definitive stamps, including the Wavy Line and the Small National Coat of Arms. The old definitive stamps featuring Queen Margrethe were removed from sale at post offices and sub-post offices at the end of January 2010, but are still be available from the Post Danmark Philatelic sales department.

I received a Danish cover franked with one of the latest Queen Margrethe II definitive stamp. It is my new country #87!. This cover was postmarked on 28th March 2010 (which is a Sunday?) in Kobenhavn, Denmark and took 4 days to reach me.
