An awesome cover from Croatia!

It has been a while since I received a cover from Croatia. Today, I am delighted to receive one from my friend, Tomislav Dolar! Thank you very much! The stamp franked on the extreme left was issued on 20th May 2009 to commemorate 350 Years of Franciscan Presence in Čakovec (a city located in northern part of Croatia and the second northernmost city of the country). The term Franciscan is commonly used to refer to members of Catholic religious orders, also known as the Orders of Friars Minor, that follow a body of regulations known as "The rule of St. Francis", or a member of one of these orders.
The second stamp from the left was issued on 17th Oct 2008 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Healthy Cities Movement in Europe.

The Healthy Cities movement began in Toronto, Canada, in 1984 and quickly spread to Europe under the auspices of the World Health Organization.
The movement has grown rapidly since it was launched. There are currently 18 national networks and thousands of towns and cities actively involved in the United States and Canada, Europe, and, increasingly the developing world, all of which reflect this approach in varying degrees.
The model emphasized “the recognition that health and well-being are interconnected with social, cultural, physical, economic and other factors and that community-wide participation and collaboration are necessary to improve health and the quality of life.

Next is a stamp from the "European Football Championship 2008" series, issued on 15th May 2008.

The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2008, was the 13th UEFA European Football Championship, a quadrennial football tournament contested by European nations. The tournament, which was hosted by Austria and Switzerland, began on 7 June 2008, and concluded with the final at Ernst Happel Stadion in Vienna on 29 June 2008. It was won by Spain who defeated Germany 1-0, with goal by Fernando Torres in the 33th min.

Last but not least, we have a lovely stamp issued by Croatia Post on 4th April 2009 to commemorate the Accession of the Republic of Croatia to NATO.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), also called "the (North) Atlantic Alliance", is an intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on 4 April 1949. The NATO headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium, and the organization constitutes a system of collective defense whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party.

The Accession of Croatia to NATO took place in 2009. Croatia entered into NATO's Partnership for Peace in 2000, which began the process of accession into the alliance. The country received an invitation to join at the 2008 Bucharest Summit and became a full member on April 1, 2009.

That's all folks! Till next post! Bye!
